Great River of the Mountains: The Hudson
Print and digital facsimiles (2009)
In concert with the quadricentennial of the discovery of the Hudson River, 42-line imaged Croswell Bowen’s 1941 photographic book Great River of the Mountains: The Hudson, creating facsimile versions both for printing and online reading. Both facsimiles include a new introduction, with additional photos, about Bowen’s undertaking and the mentors and collaborators, such as Margaret Bourke-White (below), who supported him. High-resolution images were also reproduced as exhibition posters for the Center for Folklife, History & Cultural Programs at the Crandall Public Library in Glens Falls, New York.
